Upper Hunter Dressage Association was formed in
Scone, NSW
, after a public meeting held in June
1987.
The
club was to start with very small competitions held on the Rodeo
ground at White Park with our first official competition being held
in September of that year. Tests were from Prelim to
Elementary only. During the next few years we progressed to
running our events up to and including Grand Prix.
The club has seen many
changes including the Sand area which was originally put in as a
temporary measure for us to run the North West Regional
Championships in the late 90's and has been a permanent fixture
since then. Scone is fortunate to have almost 200 fully
enclosed, safe and well maintained horse boxes. The grounds
are well maintained and apart from some unusually dry conditions
where we have been on town water restrictions the council are happy
to water the grounds in the lead up to competitions.
Scone has several
motels and hotels so there is never a problem to get accommodation
which is walking distance to the grounds. There are many
restaurants and cafes to tempt even the most fussy horse enthusiast.
Our club has a
reputation for running first-rate competitions with superior prizes
and prizemoney with trophy rugs at our annual Championships.
Competition in the Hunter Valley is abundant but a trip to
Scone can not only be an enjoyable time to compete with your horse
but also a nice place to visit.
