I contacted Debbie, not long after she moved to Australia, to ask if I could drive up and get some agility advice and training for my dogs.  That trip up north changed so many things for me, my relationship with my current dogs, the way I viewed training and most importantly my definition of a Border Collie. Quite simply, Deb's dogs were unlike any I had ever seen before.  I spent 3 days watching them work sheep, run agility and be the most loving of companions in the house.  I had not really thought about getting another dog until that point, but I truly fell in love with each and every one of them & knew within a day of meeting Deb and her amazing dogs that I wanted one.

Trim is now 2 years old and has become everything I ever dreamed of and more. It still amazes me each and every day that she can be so intense out in the paddock on sheep, can possess such focus and drive in agility and then can come home and curl up at my feet or by my side in such a sweet loving manner.  She has fast become the favorite of all my friends and family, and wins hearts everywhere she goes.

I have so much admiration for Trim as an agility dog.
She always gives more than I ask, she is always ready
and never wants to stop.  She learns new things so quickly and as soon as she understands her job, puts her heart and soul into getting it done. She has that amazing ability, just like her Mum and Grandma to be naturally efficient, always taking the shortest and quickest path.  From them she has also inherited that "honest" nature in training.  She has already earned a reputation for "saving my butt" in spectacular athletic fashion a few times in training.

Sometimes I wonder who is training who, she has taught me so many things about agility that you just can't learn in a book; to walk to the start line as she does, focused and businesslike; to give it everything I have while I am out there; and most importantly, no matter what happens to have an absolute blast. Nothing else exists for either one of us when we are running except the course & each other, and that is a really amazing feeling.  I am so excited about our success so far in our trialling career and I can hardly wait for next year to start so that we can continue this success.

Trim has also introduced me to the world of herding
and given me a new passion and interest that I
think will stay with me forever.  Together we are meeting so many wonderful people and living so many experiences.  From day one, it has been clear that Trim wants to work, more than anything else in life.  I will never forget the lump in my throat the very first time she went on sheep, especially since I often still get that lump, working her now.

She has all the natural instinct and talent that people look for in a
sheepdog and has developed quite a fan-club at training.  She is a very stylish worker and has demonstrated some real power and guts when necessary.  I am looking forward to trialling Trim in the new year and think we will both gain a lot from the experience.  I have so much to learn about herding and it is something that I expect will take years to really gain a lot of skill in.  Mostly I just love the fact that Trim & I can head off, by ourselves for the day & do something we both love.

One of my favourite things about Trim is the way she quietly comes up, puts a toy in my lap, rests her chin on me and patiently stares up at me...until I give up whatever meaningless task I am doing...and play with her!   It never takes long, it's a face very hard to resist..."
