Cottage perennials and flowering plants add so much to the
garden and are the perfect accent for old garden roses. All
of the perennials I grow are frost hardy and tolerate high
summer heat.



I enjoy using perennials in the garden
because they are so easy to care for. They add a splash
of colour and a variety of different leaf textures.



Below is a list with photos and descriptions of some of
the perennials that I grow. Small numbers of some
plants are available. All started from plants in my
garden and are well rooted in pots. Plants are
grown from division or from seed.

Abutilon Chinese Lantern	6ft x 4ft	Orange flowers for most of the year. I use it with climbing roses.
Achillea *	12" x 15"	Soft pink flower heads, feathery leaves, dainty impression
Achillea *	3ft x 2ft	Deep yellow flower heads, feathery leaves, bold impression
Agapanthus	3ft x3ft	Blue flowers in summer. Lovely green leaves all year.
Agastache auraniaeus	2ft x2ft	Apricot spires from spring to autumn, rounded plant.
Ammi * Queen Ann's Lace	3ft x 2ft	White flat lacy flowers, lush green leaves, back of border, annual, will self sow.
Aquilegia aplina	1ft x 1ft	Dark purple/blue bonnets, soundly perennial
Centranthus ruber	2ft x 2ft	Pink or white
Chrysanthemum * Feverfew	2ft x 2ft	Massive clusters of small white daises, lush green leaves
Chrysanthemum * Shasta Daisy	9" x 1ft	3" white daises with yellow center on 9" stems, blooms summer and again in autumn.
Chrysanthemum * White daisy	6" x 6"	Annual white daisy, self seeds freely, blooms autumn through early spring.
Clematis The President	10ft	Deep purple blue flowers spring summer and autumn.
Clematis Kathleen Dunford	8ft	Soft lavender flowers in spring.
Clematis MME Julia Correvon	12ft	Dusky plum coloured flowers, spring and autumn.
Convolvulus *	4" x 2ft	Small morning glory shaped lavender blue flowers most of the year. Trailing plant, will cascade.
Digitalis Foxglove	2ft x 1ft	Spires of pink, plum or white flowers. Short lived perennial with winter chill. Best grown from seed sown in autumn.
Echium	5ft x 4ft	Tall blue or purple spires, great effect! Seed grown.
Erigeron * Seaside Daisy	1ft x 3ft	Masses of cream pink to plum small flowers, all year, will cascade.
Euryops pectinatus *	3ft x 3ft	Gray leaves and masses of yellow daisy, autumn and winter, rounded plant.
Geranium endressii * Crainsbill	1ft x 1ft	Soft pink flowers spring and summer, rounded plant.
Geranium macrorrhizum * Crainsbill	6" x 10"	Nodding clusters of med pink flowers in spring, small rounded plant, creeps slowly.
Geranium ibericum * Crainsbill	8" x 8"	Mauve/blue 1" flowers spring and summer, small rounded plant.
Geranium * Crainsbill	1ft x 2ft	Blue flowers spring though autumn, trailing plant
Heliopsis helianthoides * Perennial sunflower	2ft x 2ft	Bright yellow 3" sunflowers in clusters all summer soundly perennial.
Hemerocallis Day Lilies	2ft x 3ft	Day lilies bloom in spring and repeat several times a year. They come in many colours.
Isopogon formosus	3ft x 3ft	Rose coloured flowers in spring, very interesting foliage and cones.
Isopogon anethifolius	3ft x 3ft	Cream coloured flowers in spring, very interesting foliage and cones.
Iris Tall Bearded	3ft x 3ft	Tall Bearded Iris bloom and spring and some also bloom in the fall, very drought tolerant, range of colours.
Lepichinia salviae hastata	1m x 1m	Silver grey large leaves, violet purple spires in summer and autumn, likes dry position. Striking plant.
Lonicera Americana	7ft x 3ft	Red pink and cream flowers, shrub or small climber, spring blooms.
Lupinus polyphyllus Russell Lupins	2ft x 2ft	Flower spikes spring and summer. Many colours, short lived perennial. Collect seeds and sow in autumn.
Matricaria * German Chamomile	1ft x 1ft	Airy white daises with feathery leaves, very dainty, annual, self sows freely.
Monarda Bee Balm	3ft x 2ft	Dark pink mauve, upright plant, flowers summer through autumn.
Lysimachia ephemerum * Loosestrife	3ft x 3ft	White narrow spires on compact rounded bush.
Nepeta	2ft x 2ft	Blue flowers all year,  cut to ground in winter.
Nepeta	2ft x 2ft	Mauve flowers all year,  cut to ground in winter.
Nepeta	8" x 1 ft	Blue flowers all year, small plant great for front of border.
Nepeta	2ft x 2ft	Upright growth, blue flowers all year.
Nepeta	2ft x 2ft	Larger blue flowers, not fully reliable return over winter. May do better with less winter frosts.
Nepeta	4" x 2ft	Creeping, white pink and green leaves, small pink flowers, can be invasive in moist areas.
Oenothera speciosa Mexican Evening Primrose	1ft x 1ft	Day blooming 2" pink flowers, spring through autumn, spreads in moist soil.

Salvia chamaedryoides Mexican Blue Sage	2ft x 2ft	Small silver leaves, blue flower spikes, rounded plant.
Salvia fruticosa	2ft x 2ft	Mauve spires spring through autumn,  grey woolly leaves, rounded bush
Salvia	2ft x 2ft	Med blue spires spring through autumn, bright green leaves, rounded bush
Salvia uliginosa Blue Spike Sage	4ft x 3ft	Light blue flowers spring through autumn, tall narrow plant, can sucker in wet ground.
Salvia pratensis	1ft x 2 ft	Pink sprays above low base of large leaves, blooms spring summer.
Salvia microphylla	2ft x 2ft	Bright dark pink flowers spring through autumn, rounded shrub
Salvia microphylla	2ft x 3ft	Bright red flowers summer through winter, sprawling and will cascade over bank.
Salvia sclarea Clary Sage	3ft x 3ft	Lilac flowers in profusion, large textured leaves, short lived. Self seeds.
Salvia Transylvania	2ft x 2ft	Deep blue flower spikes, large green leaves, rounded plant.
Stachys Lambs Ears	1ft x 3ft	Downy soft grey leaves, purple flower spikes.
Viola Sweet Violets	6" x 12"	Old fashion purple violets with round dark green leaves, winter spring blooms, spreads slowly by runners.
