Calculating the Hubble constant and the age of the universe

A lab report used in conjunction with CLEA Hubble Redshift software


CLEA Hubble Redshift software is a free programme used for educational purposes. It was developed to demonstrate how astronomers use a photon counting method (with a spectrograph) for working out distances of galaxies and hence determining the age of the universe. A screenshot of the main screen is pictured below:

Interface is very simple to use and requires no previous knowledge about the Hubble constant or related subjects. In fact, it is a great beginner's tool for discovering and learning about these parameters! Student manual provides all the necessary information on how to execute basic commands.
