What is the right formula for the keeping of avian birds?

under any pressure or strain with your birds or families, then maybe your particular formula is not working for you anymore and it needs to be improved. We keep four types of bird species here, Cockatoo’s, Asiatic parrots, Lories, and Lorikeets. We have divided our collection into two manageable parts of our yard, the seed eating birds in one area, and the nectar eating birds into another, this means we can better cater for they needs separately, without causing too much of a problem. Of course the Lories and Lorikeets need to be attended to every day, some thing a lot of bird lovers say they can’t be bothered with, so by having a bird room and preparation area close to them has work out very well for us, all their feeding and cleaning is done from those two areas so as to keep the work load needed to maintain them properly down to a minimum of fuss.

CONCLUSION: I am not at all trying to criticize people in any way for what they are doing in the keeping of their birds, but I am suggesting that if people are struggling in any way in maintaining their birds correctly, then maybe they should make a change so that things can work out more smoothly for both themselves and their birds. Whether we are old hands or new comers, we all can learn from one another, take a leaf out of each others book, share ideas with one another, and maybe for the birds sake become better aviculturists.

Yours in aviculture: Paul Stevens.
