"BABY HAND REARING FORMULA" nectar eaters
Here at Donpaulna Aviaries we believe that our hand raised birds are of top quality , and if loved will stay very tame towards their owners. Pet birds make very good companions, and are known to relief stress. As long as the bird is well maintained, it will stay a close and healthy friend. Keeping hand raised birds of different species together makes for many happier times. We believe that by keeping two of the same species and of opposite sex (when coming into breeding age), may become somewhat aggressive and nippy. If you would like to see what formula we use for hand raising our seed eating birds then please click on the caption below.

HANDY HINTS. - Here are a few helpful hints that may help out when getting started into the bird game. These are my own personal views which I believe are common sense ideas.
1) Wasting seed is always a problem to aviculturists, using a seed saver, and good designed feeders can cut your seed bill by more than half. (Never re-use seed that has fallen onto the floor of the aviaries).
2) Placing water bowls well away from perches and feeding stations will help keep them clean and free of decease, although you still need to clean them out regularly.
3) Placing a good leaf mulch under suspended cages will help keep the area clean and looking good. When put down thick enough all that is necessary is to rake over it once and awhile to turn in the birds droppings.
4) Well drain floors in conventional aviaries helps keep worm problems down, and helps with excessive water lay.
5) Designing your aviary lay out before attempting to build is always a great helpful hint.
6) Try to always put bird species in the most suitable aviaries for their particular needs.
7) Never put aggressive natured birds in together, this always causes problems such as unnecessary lose, or injury of birds.
8) When you have a formula that you are getting good results from, both with breeding and hand rearing, stick to it, never change no matter how great the temptation.
9) Get into a habit or routine of keeping cages and feed areas clean, this helps cut down vermin problems.
10) Walkways are a must in my view, they save plenty of heartbreak.
11) Concrete where feed stations are is a great idea, to help keep that area clean and tidy.
Common sense is always a good helpful hint.
