The Balance

There are those who confuse 'love' with 'liking'. Many a person may grate on our sensitivity, annoy us, speak a different language, live in a world of his/her own, and so on and so on. They may not appeal to us, but we must, and can, love them.

The Balance

The Bible notes the importance of loving one's neighbour and of loving God, especially the New Testament. Jesus Christ made it plain that love was top priority. "Love one another as I have loved you".  John 13:34. Everyone will know 'you are my disciples by the love you have, one for another'. John 13:35.
Jesus, Son of The Eternal-father, brought Himself to creation to share Himself and He is Truth-personified and so He brought Truth -  but the motivation behind this is Love.
We are advised that God created the universe for His sake, for our sake - that is, out of Love.
In the ordinary course of events, love is central. The myriad of songs around the world are almost all entirely born out of and based on love.
Even those who chase after wealth or power, do it for acclaim from their fellows. Not really love, of course, but who would want to rule the world if he or she were the only one on the planet. People seek wealth in a vain attempt to gain happiness which, in the short and the long run, comes from companionship and love.
However, love is far, far more than that
Love is the balance of creation, in both the material and the spiritual spheres, just as it is in The Divinity.
In the spiritual sense, we are aware that the Bible is often seen as the Book of Love. We are also aware that God is Love.
God, of course, is Truth and Existence, too. Even
Satan has existence (in the most unfortunate manner, true). The father of lies and of death also has knowledge. He knows that God exists even as he would have us believe that God does not exist.
He does
not have love - he does not have Love.
Thus St Paul can say that no matter what you have 'you are nothing if you do not have love'. There is faith, hope and charity and the 'greatest of these is charity' which, of course, is love. 1 Cor. 13:13.
Love is the password to eternal life, where we share to the best of our capacity, all that is Divine.
In building up our store of truth and in expanding our being towards perfection, we must develop in the Love of God and we must learn to love our neighbour,
in loving God.
There are many who consider that this commandment is not really meant in the fullest sense of the words. It might, for example, mean that we should help those in trouble when it is convenient. Doesn't this show in the story of the Good Samaritan? No, it certainly does not. Jesus the Christ said 'love your neighbour as you love yourself', and that is precisely what He meant. John 10:27.
There are those who confuse 'love' with 'liking'. Many a person may grate on our sensitivity, annoy us, speak a different language, live in a world of his/her own, and so on and so on. They may not appeal to us, but we must, and can, love them.
And the secret to loving your neighbour, is
understanding them. How would we act under the circumstances that surrounded their lives? Can I put myself in his/her shoes in that situation?
True, understanding a person, does not mean liking what we understand but it does mean that we can love them.

It is important to recall that God loves them
